This Eid saw the release of two much-awaited Pakistani movies – Yalghaar and Mehrunissa V Lub U. Despite the fact that both movies were released alongside 4 hyped Hollywood films, they still ruled the box office with a steady performance – but not for long.
Yalghaar Box Office Report
Expectations with Yalghaar were through the roof and the movie did deliver (in bits and pieces) but it was nowhere close to Bilal Lashari’s Waar, released in 2013. Hasan Waqar Rana’s multi-starrer war drama was able to keep the audience hooked during the first week but the business started to dither from there onwards.
Although there are no confirmed numbers out yet, boxofficedetail.com did an estimated run and according to their report, here’s the breakdown of the 14-day collections of ‘Yalghaar’:
Week One (Mon-Sun) – 11.9cr
Week One (11 Days) estimates – 13.75cr
2nd Weekend estimates – 1.35cr
Total – 15.1cr
According to various reports, the movie had a massive budget of PKR 50 crores and looking at the current drop in the numbers, the movie will finish its run somewhat between 16.5-17cr approx.
Mehrunisa V Lub U-Box Office Report
Starring the chocolate boy, Danish Taimoor and the gorgeous Sana Javed – the romantic love story by Yasir Nawaz was overshadowed by Yalghaar but even so, it held its ground and came second with a total box office collection of 11.12 crore.
‘Mehrunisa V Lub U’ collected 10.15 crore over its eleven days extended Eid week and added 0.97 crores with the second weekend. The film has a total box office collection of 11.12 crore.
Let’s hope those upcoming movies such as Punjab Nahin Jaungi, Parvaaz Hai Junoon, and Na Maloon Afraad 2 live up to audience and distributors’ expectations.
