The year 2016 is about to end. Although the year had been hard on the Pakistani entertainment industry with the passing of few legends, some new emerging artists are like a breath of fresh air to the industry. Let’s see how the stars have rolled.

Bilal Abbas Khan
Bilal Abbas Khan is the new face of the entertainment industry. The good looking actor has already gathered a large following owing to his charismatic face. Khan has acted in multiple dramas including ‘Dumpukht-Aatish-e-Ishq’, ‘Saya-e-Dewar Bhi Nahi’, etc. The actor has equally great acting skills making the roles exceptionally great. His character of Afaq in Saya-e-Dewar is a treat to watch. The industry and the VeryFilmi team is hoping to have more exciting roles of this budding actor. His newer drama, ‘Rasm-e-Duniya’ is in the pipeline and will hit the screens soon.
Cute and bubbly Noor Khan earned her name in the industry with her hard work and sheer dedication. The young actress delivered an impressive performance as Shafaq in ‘Saya-e-Dewar Bhi Nahi’. Her character is a sweet innocent girl who had a hard childhood, with an uncaring father on her side, Shafaq still manages to knock some sense in her spoilt brother. The drama has shown that the actress has potential for doing wonders in the future.
Javeria Abbasi’s daughter Anzela Abbasi surprised the entire country with her impressive acting skills. She is currently working in ‘Gila’. It is hoped that Abbassi will bag more roles in the future and make a successful career in the industry.
Sang-e-marmar’s Palwashay, is a fresh face of the Pakistani entertainment industry. Portrayed by young actress Sharmeen Ali, Palwashay has brought more charm to the drama. The year 2017 is looking forward to record even greater performances of Sharmeen.
It seems that none could have done justice to the female vocals of the epic song, ‘Afreen Afreen’, but Momina wowed music lovers with her sensational voice when she appeared in one of the Coke Studio episodes. Complimenting legendary singer, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Momina recorded a soul-touching song.
Talented artist Zeerak Ahmed belongs to the music industry. Her laudable contributions towards mixed music have been commended by the gurus of the industry. She also became the recipient of the LSA Best Emerging Talent title.
Hands down, Udaari was one of the best dramas of 2016. The drama had a unique storyline which was brilliantly acted out by the cast. Hina Altaf, the protagonist of the drama, performed exceptionally well. This girl will be going places!
Mohsin Abbas Haider
Mohsin’s ‘Uddi Ja’, the song he sang in the Coke Studio Season 9, has become part of everybody’s music playlist. His singing is an epitome of perfection – from high notes to low soft and mellow notes, he has nailed them all. Mohsin also co-starred with Fahad Musfata and Javed Sheikh in the hit movie Na Maloom Afraad.
Mariam Saleem Nawaz
Nawaz is currently acting in ‘Khuda Mera Bhi Hai’. She is handling her role quite well with her charismatic acting.
The voice of ‘Qalabaz Dil’, Amina Baig, has marked the beginning of her would-be successful career. Her soft voice has earned a lot of praises from the entertainment industry. May the year 2017 bring more of her melodious songs.
SPECIAL PICK OF THE YEAR
Even Khan wouldn’t have imagined that by the end of the year 2016, he’d be signing modelling contracts. Khan was a tea-seller, famously called ‘chai wala’, in northern Pakistan. He rose to fame when a private photographer captured his picture. The shy blue-eyed Khan has made hundreds of girls drooling over his picture. He was instantly given makeovers and a few production companies came forward with modelling contracts for him. He has been featured in a music video called ‘Chaiwala Chaiwala’. According to some media reports, he has been offered a role in a film. Let us see what more 2017 has to offer for this young guy.
