Abdullah – The Final Witness Is All Set to Release Today

Abdullah – The Final Witness is set to release on today across Pakistan. The film is based on Kharotabad incident, in which five foreigners, including three women were killed by the Frontier Constabulary, who claimed the five were terrorist. The incident was filmed by a journalist and the footage was aired on media channels who reported that the five victims were innocent citizens.

The chief justice of Pakistan at that time took sou moto notice of the incident and a commission was asked to prepare the Kharotabad Inquiry Report, the findings of which have never been made public with the case remaining unresolved. A key witness of the killings was murdered in Quetta in December 2011.

Initially the film was banned by the censor board, who had termed its content “controversial”. But now they have given the approval to release the film. The film was also screened privately at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.

Abdullah – The Final Witness is directed, produced and written by fiction writer and novelist from Balochistan, Hashim Nadeem. The film stars Imran Abbas Naqvi, Sadia Khan, Hameed Sheikh, Sajid Hasan and others.
