Best Films of Oscars 2018 That Took the Audience By Storm


Last year’s Academy Awards a.k.a. the Oscars were amazing. Although the variety of unique genres were low, this year’s films have proven to be quite a gem. The competitors are beginning to make themselves known in the Best picture race. Here are the nominations:

The Shape of Water

The movie is about a woman named Elisa, who is a mute cleaning lady in a hidden government facility. One day, she discovers a scaled creature in the lab’s secret water tank and her life changes forever.

Phantom Thread

The film is set in the glamorous world of 1950’s post-war London and is about an expert dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock and his sister, Cyril. Their life changes when a mysterious woman comes into Reynold’s life and becomes a threat to his life-long dream. The film stars Daniel Day-Lewis who may have retired from acting but leaves an imprint with his flawless performance in the hearts of all.

The Post

The film was always going to be an Oscar nominee because it features the best actors in the business – Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep. It is the reel story of a real-life incident that features two editors of leading newspapers as well as a conspiracy that had its roots in the corridors of power.

Darkest Hour

If you’re into thrill, don’t miss this flick where Gary Oldman transforms into Winston Churchill and shocks his fans. The film revolves around the soon-to-be Prime Minister of Great Britain and how he got past his greatest trials to change the course of history.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Mothers are bold indeed but this movie is on another level of badassery. Without anyone to catch her late daughter’s murderer, Mildred Hayers takes the case into her own hands.

Call Me by Your Name

If you are a romantic, this one is for you. The film sets off in the summer of 1983, with a boy named Elio Perlman who meets the handsome Oliver and their lives changed forever.


The story describes the event of May 1940 when Germany advanced to France and trapped 400,000 allied troops on the beach. It shows how the allies used every serviceable vessel to evacuate the troops and managed to reach safety, in Christopher Nolan style!

Get Out

Chris and his girlfriend, Rose are now planning to reach the meet-the-parents milestone of dating. However, nothing goes according to plan when Chris begins to discover disturbing facts about the family.

Lady Bird
