Celluloid Junkie, the leading online resource dedicated to the global film and cinema business, has announced its list of top 50 most women in the global cinema industry on account of International Women’s Day celebrated on 8th of March.
This is the 3rd year of the top women in global cinema list and it highlights the major role played by female leaders in large and small cinema operations throughout the world.

It is a proud moment for all of us because the CEO of Pakistan’s largest Cinema Chain has made it to top 50 women in the global cinema!
Mariam El Bacha, the chief executive officer of Cinepax, Pakistan, has been considered as one of the most influential women in global cinema and ranks at number 5 on this list!

Before she became the CEO of Cinepax in Pakistan, Mariam El Bacha worked as the Director of Operations at Malaysia’s MBO cinemas. Mariam has been managing cinema’s very efficiently and in our country where cinema industry suffers from the effects of piracy, terrorism and fundamentalism, she’s worked to bring modern cinema back to Pakistan.
Mariam El Bacha is also an inspiring speaker at international events, including CineAsia and Norway’s Film&Kino in the past year. She has worked for major cinema chains across four continents: South America, Europe, Australia and South-East Asia.

- Yu Xin (Donna Yu) – General Manager, Dadi (China)
- Elizabeth Frank –EVP of Worldwide Programming and Chief Content Officer, AMC Theatres (USA)
- Martine Odillard – President, Les Cinémas Gaumont Pathé (France)
- Debbie Stanford-Kristiansen – Chief Executive Officer, Novo Cinemas (U.A.E.)
- Mariam El Bacha – Chief Executive Officer, Cinepax (Pakistan)
