Pakistani artists are in no way less than Bollywood actors but sometimes it’s the lack of an international exposure and opportunities that put them at a disadvantage. Something similar happened with Ali Zafar’s younger brother, Danyal Zafar.
The hottest sensation these days, Danyal Zafar may have made somewhat of a mild debut with Coke Studio Season 10 but the junior Zafar was all set to make a big splash in the Bollywood with none other than the esteemed YRF productions.
Had the relations between the two countries stayed cordial, Danyal Zafar could have been the next big thing in Bollywood. But sadly, that didn’t happen and his debut role went to the Kapoor family’s newest entry, Aadar Jain.
With a strong lineage, you would think Aadar Jain was the first choice for his soon-to-release movie ‘Qaidi Band’ but nope that wasn’t the case. In a recent interview, Raj Kapoor’s grandson admitted that he wasn’t the first choice for the lead role. He said and we quote:
“Yes, I wasn’t the original choice to play the character in this movie. There was a boy called Danyal Zafar (Ali Zafar’s brother) and he was a Pakistani. He was cast for the movie. But then, after the Uri attacks he had to go back to Pakistan owing to the ban on Pakistani artistes. Therefore, I was the last person to be cast for the movie.”
Well, this is certainly a refreshing take on the nepotism debut in Bollywood. Qaidi Band also marks the debut of actress Anya Singh opposite Aadar Jain. It is written and directed by Habib Faisal and is slated to release on August 25, 2017.
