Veteran TV and stage actor Khawaja Akmal who passed away on 26th November was laid to rest in Karachi, leaving behind his many fans in sorrow. The actor who was popular for playing Siddiqui sahab, the father of Ayesha Omer’s Khoobsurat character in popular sitcom Bulbulay breathed his last in Quetta during a wedding ceremony he had gone to attend.
Akmal started his career in the early 90s through PTV’s comedy show Excuse me and was part of the TV fraternity for nearly 3 decades. Although comedy was his forte he also dabbled in serious roles once in a while. Akmal also appeared in quite a number of TV commercials while acted on stage too with many renowned actors including Umar Sharif. His death has left a void that might not be easy to fill, considering he was able to do justice to all roles offered to him.
Akmal’s famous plays included Excuse Me, Bulbulay, Russ Gullay, Batashay etc. while he was also part of the many sitcoms going on air at the moment. The 60-year old was loved by all and his colleagues from TV and Theatre industry termed him one of the most cooperative actors to work with.
