We Pakistanis adore Fawad Khan for his looks, the characters he plays and of course, the spell he casts with his magical voice. So it’s no surprise to us that he is loved with equal fervor, across the border. ‘Fawad Fever’ hit Bollywood back in 2014 with Khoobsurat and continued with Kapoor And Sons in 2016. However, with the recent ban on Pakistani actors in India, the FawadFanatics across the border must simply make do without him.
Kapoor & Sons was a breath of fresh air amongst typical Indian movies, featuring Fawad Khan, Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra and Rishi Kapoor. One of the most striking things about Fawad Khan’s character in Kapoor & Sons was that he played Rahul, who was a gay character, but not effeminate like they usually are in mainstream films.
In an interview with Indian Express, the director of Kapoor & Sons, Shakun Batra revealed that he missed the Pakistani actor.
“I miss him a lot. I don’t know if I am supposed to be quiet about it.. and I don’t miss him because of any other things, I miss him simply because he is a great guy and he is a lovely collaborator.”
“We Indians who work around the world, we do it legally, similarly, if somebody else wants to work legally in our country, it should be open. It should be a two-way street,” Shakun replied.
Fawad also made an extended cameo in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
