Upcoming Bollywood movie ‘Gul Makai’, a biopic based on Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, was recently screened by the United Nations in London on January 25.
According to an Indian Publication Mirror, the movie received major backlash from Pakistani diplomats, who were among the audiences after the screening for showing a negative image of the country.
The publication posted:
Malala is a global icon and it will be difficult to have the film banned officially. But the government may coerce the distributors into not releasing the film.
This biopic is directed by Amjad Khan with most of the film shot in Indian Occupied Kashmir. The cast of the movie includes Sameer Shaikh, Divya Dutta, and the late Om Puri.
The movie depicts a brave picture of Malala when portraying her struggle for quality education and her fight against terrorism.
The trailer was released last year and it gave us major goosebumps as it highlights intense insights from the activist’s life.
