James Bay has released the latest track from his forthcoming album, along with a video that finds him in the studio with backing musicians.
“Slide,” which was featured as a World Record by Zane Lowe for Apple Music/Beats 1, is a heartfelt ballad that ends with a reading of the Allen Ginsberg poem “Song” by musician David Ryan Harris.
Bay said of the track, “‘Slide’ was the last song written for the new album and it felt like a natural closer. Although its tone is sad and heavy, it’s essentially about connection — a theme which, with hindsight, this album is really hinged on — and hope, despite the fact it doesn’t always work out.”
“Slide” will feature on the artist’s highly anticipated sophomore album, “Electric Light,” which is out on May 18. Those who pre-order will get instant downloads of “Slide” and three other previously released tracks: “Us,” “Pink Lemonade” and “Wild Love.”
