For the first time in many years, IIFA 2017 will be held in the city that never sleeps. Yes, you guessed it right! And no, it’s not Karachi. But New York City, the concrete jungle where dreams are made!
The magic of IIFA was first brought to the US in Tampa Bay, Florida in 2014. Stars like Kevin Spacey and John Travolta also attended the show.
Here’s what the organizer of the show Andre Timmins had to say for taking it to New York,
“It has been a big decision to take IIFA to New York. We have been working towards this for the last six months. It is extremely exciting from IIFA’s perspective, because after 18 years, we now want to change the game.
“We are looking at this as a big blockbuster movie we are putting out in America.”
Have a look at the official poster below:
The bidders of the show included Switzerland, Paris, Lisbon and places in the Far East.
“Ultimately, we are bringing business to the country and facilitating cultural exchange. Everybody has been supportive.”
Moreover, on a humorous note, Timmins added,
“I would be more than happy if Trump (US President Donald Trump wants to come and address our IIFA Awards and touch about 40,000 Asians.”
The mayor of New York, Bill De Blasio was more than welcoming for the event to be held in his city,
“We welcome the artists and fans of Indian cinema, and encourage everyone to experience the rich cultural life across the five boroughs while celebrating these ground-breaking films.”
And the excitement shows!
