Indian Government’s decision of banning Pakistani artists after the suicide attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama resulted in serious aftermath.
The decision sparked a furious debate on both sides of the border and several celebrities have shared different opinions on their social media account. Tempers are still ignited and both nations are pointing fingers at each other.
While a number of celebrities held Pakistan responsible for the deadly attack, there are also a few Indian celebrities who spoke in support of Pakistan.
Similarly, the cricketer turned Politician Navjot Singh Sidhu supported Pakistan and said:
For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual? It (the attack) is a cowardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished.
His statement created an uproar in India and he was also ousted from The Kapil Sharma Show.
However, Navjot Singh Sidhu was lauded by the winner of Big Boss show Shilpa Shinde and said that she is against the decision of banning Pakistani artists in Bollywood.
I am totally against the new phenomenon of banning anyone whose views you don’t concur with. Sadly, CINTAA and other industry bodies are equally complicit in this. Everyone has the right to occupation; you can’t deny me the right to earn my livelihood. In the same vein, I also bat for the rights of Pakistani artists to work in Bollywood, purely on the basis of talent. I have been a victim of this ban culture, so know what’s wrong with it.
After her statement, the actress is now receiving a lot of backlash and even rape threats online.
Well, it is so unfortunate to see that the celebrities are facing repercussions for trying to speak their mind regarding the relationship between the two nations.
