The trailer of ARY Films’ Jawani Phir Nahi Ani sequel is out and it couldn’t get grander than that. Not only does the Nadeem Baig flick have the best actors from Pakistan but it also crosses the Wagah border (metaphorically) and comes up with an Indo-Pak love story.
The production values are high, the locations are amazing and the story seems much much better (and original) than the first part.
The story revolves around three friends played by Humayun Saeed, Ahmed Ali Butt and Vasay Chaudhry who are joined by a new one – Fahad Mustafa – in their ‘lovey-dovey’ adventures. Humayun’s character falls in love with the vibrant girl played by Kubra Khan while Fahad’s character finds true love in Mawra Hocane.
Ahmed Ali Butt and Vasay Chaudhry are shown to be still with their wives – Uzma Khan and Sarwat Gillani – while a new character played by Sohail Ahmed enters the plot as a ‘neutral’ person. Bollywood actor Kanwaljit Singh also portrays a patriarch of a family that loves all passports but Pakistan’s.
Add a wedding that must not take place, a friend who is as bad as an enemy and a story that has never taken place on our screens, and you get the perfect Eid vehicle.
The sequel to Jawani Phir Nahi Ani has been shot in beautiful locations of Turkey and United Arab Emirates where everyone looks good, refreshing and updated. The best part is that Humayun Saeed and Fahad Mustafa get to share the screen, something they did briefly in Actor In Law and wowed the audience.
Humayun is the producer of the movie but that doesn’t mean that he takes most of the screen time; equal time is given to Fahad Mustafa who plays a rich brat for a change; Vasay Chaudhry and Ahmad Ali Butt reprise their roles as friends who are always in need! All the ‘boys’ dance and roam around inviting trouble especially when it involves one of their own!
As for the ladies, Kubra Khan looks the part of an adventurous girl and one hopes she manages to make a place for herself on the big screen where she has either been cast in secondary roles or made guest appearances.
The sensational Mawra Hocane also dons western outfits, dances her heart out and looks out of this world when compared to her previous Bollywood outing Sanam Teri Kasam. The film will mark her debut in Pakistan and she looks all set to dazzle the audience alongside Uzma Khan and Sarwat Gillani.
The script by Vasay Chaudhry has punches, one-liners and even a sword fight between Humayun Saeed and Omer Shahzad, the main antagonist of the movie. And then there is the Nadeem Baig touch that guarantees that the film will be very different from the trailer, will be grander than anything you have ever seen and will be a step up from their previous work Punjab Nahi Jaungi.
Just like the first installment of JPNA, the second one begins with the friends running after one of their own; however, there is a twist and we have the ever graceful Fahad Mustafa replacing Hamza Ali Abbasi. Then there are two new girls in the picture replacing Mehwish Hayat and Ayesha Khan which gives the film a fresh look.
The Ammi Jan reference also brought a smile to the audience’s face and that’s one of the reasons why the audience left the cinema in a happy mood. Suleman Razzaq’s cinematography, Shani Arshad’s background score among other things give you all the more reasons to wait patiently for what can be the biggest hit of the year!
