Jessica Chastain will be joined by Penelope Cruz, Lupita Nyong’o, Fan Bingbing and Marion Cotillard in leading “355,” an action thriller backed by Chastain’s own production company.
Writer and producer Simon Kinberg, who makes his directorial debut with 2019’s “X-Men: Dark Phoenix,” is helming Jessica Chastain’s action movie project “355.”
Five star actresses have been announced for the film about five secret agency spies who team up to fight a common enemy.
Jessica Chastain, who has a decisive on-screen role in “X-Men: Dark Phoenix,” led “Zero Dark Thirty” and co-starred in “The Help,” both of which resulted in Academy Award nominations.
Recent credits for Spanish actress Penelope Cruz include “Murder on the Orient Express,” “Escobar,” and “American Crime Story,” while French star Marion Cotillard has “Allied” and “Macbeth” among recent international projects.
China’s Fan Bingbing is another “X-Men” alumnus, having taken part in “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” Kenyan-Mexican Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o is involved in the “Star Wars” and “Avengers” franchises.
“355” is being produced through Chastain’s Freckle Films company, with the director’s Kinberg Genre company also involved.
“It’s something I’ve never seen, and it’s something that I believe will be not only incredibly entertaining for today’s global audience, but also something inspiring for an increasingly divided world,” said Kinberg of the film and its casting.
The project is being pitched to prospective distributors at the Cannes Film Festival which runs May 8-19 in southeast France.
