Mehwish Hayat, during quarantine, hasn’t been too active on social media, but she did opt for an Instagram/TikTok challenge with her brother Danish Hayat, to kill the boredom. However, Mehwish is trying her best to keep her fans entertained by posting on and off during the pandemic.

Just recently, Pakistani Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient, Mehwish Hayat, shared an inspirational poem in which she credited it to Allama Iqbal. Little did she know, the poetic verses were not by Allama Iqbal but, in fact, by Muhammad Ismail.

However, this isn’t the first time a thing like this took place. Earlier, a couple of other Pakistani celebrities have also made such mistakes. The Lollywood diva sure loves the limelight but has also been part of a few controversies. And this time, she mistakenly attributed the poem, not knowing what’s going to follow it.

Here’s what Mehwish Hayat tweeted:

Her followers were super quick to spot the error and bombarded her with tweets mentioning the right poet’s name.

and this

However, as soon as Hayat realized what went wrong, she rectified her mistake and said that she copied the poem from the internet, which sourced Allama Iqbal.

And said,

“Correction, I have been reliably informed that these verses attributed to Allama Iqbal are, in fact, by Muhammed Ismail. Proves Google is not always a reliable source. lol”

Well, it’s always better to cross-check your sources before posting it online. Isn’t it?
