Pakistani movie Verna has just announced its male lead! Singer Haroon Shahid has been cast opposite Mahira Khan. Haroon first drew the public’s attention as the frontman and lead vocalist of the pop-rock ensemble, SYMT. After appearing on Coke Studio, Season 5 with ‘Tum Kaho’ and ‘Koi Labda’.
According to Dawn Images, Haroon spills the beans on his role in the movie.
“You can’t approach Shoaib Mansoor. Shoaib Mansoor always approaches you,” said Haroon. “I was just asked by Shoaib sahab to come and audition [for the role].”
The singer turned actor will also be featured on the soundtrack.
“I sing a song with Zeb Bangash for the film,” Haroon reveals, adding that there are 5 to 6 songs on the film’s soundtrack. “Soch has contributed a few songs, as have some other artists. But the best part for me was that I had the opportunity of working with Shoaib sahab on the composition of a couple of songs in the film.”
Shoaib Mansoor told the media at the movie’s announcement:
“This film has been Written and Directed by a man of Pakistan for the men of the world to listen to women. It is to encourage women to speak up … Khuda ke liye bol verna…..”
Sultana Siddiqui, President HUM Network stated, “We at HUM are very happy to have signed up as distributors for Shoaib Mansoor’s film ‘Verna’. He is a brilliant director and his views on subjects that are close to our hearts as well, are similar. Shoaib’s films are commercial but at the same time focus on topics that carry a strong message. We are hopeful that this film will be even more successful than his previous ones.
VERNA will be released worldwide on Eid-ul-Fitr 2017 by the leading film distributor of Pakistan, HUM Films.
