Pakistan’s most expensive movie till date, Yalghaar is currently breathing its last days in cinemas as the business flounders – not only in Pakistan but worldwide too.
The multi-starrer war drama has not even come close to meeting its budget (PKR 50cr) let alone earn some profits for the makers and distributors. According to recent reports by BoxOfficeDetail, Hasan Waqar Rana’s brainchild, Yalghaar couldn’t attract any overseas business.
Despite a stellar cast featuring Shaan Shahid, Humayun Saeed, Ayub Khoso, Armeena Rana Khan and Bilal Ashraf among others – Yalghaar only collected under 2.5cr approx from all territories until the end of Sunday as per early estimates and it will end much below the 3cr mark in overseas markets.
Here’s a breakdown of the dismal earnings:
UK – 60lacs
UAE (estimates) – 1.25cr
As for the home market, Expectations with hyped release were through the roof and the movie did deliver (in bits and pieces) but it was nowhere close to Bilal Lashari’s Waar, released in 2013. The war drama has so far earned PKR 15.9cr – a far cry from its expected earnings.
