If you haven’t watched Punjab Nahi Jaungi yet then here’s another reason to watch it ASAP! This Humayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat starrer is now the highest grossing movie in Pakistan. The movie has crossed high-profile Hollywood and Bollywood flicks.
Currently running successfully in its 4th week in all local cinemas, the superhit family drama, Punjab Nahi Jaungi has grossed over 26.8cr approx in 24 days which makes it highest grossing film of 2017 in the domestic market.
Earlier it was Fast & Furious 8 which had collected 26.7cr approx in Pakistan, according to BoxOfficeDetails.com. And that’s just the beginning, PNJ is also the all-time highest grossing Pakistani movie in the UK.
According to BoxOfficeDetail, here is a weekly one-month box office collection break-down for PNJ in Pakistan:
Week One.. 12.25cr
Week Two.. 7.5cr
Week Three.. 5.1cr
4th Weekend.. 2cr
Total.. 26.85cr
The numbers will, of course, drop in respect of Muharram ul Haram and the overall result will be based on the business after Muharram.
Good music, a talented ensemble of actors, a strong storyline and most importantly whistle-worthy entertainment has made Punjab Nahi Jaungi an exemplary movie in the new-age Pakistani cinema.
With a couple of movie releases left in the remaining 4 months of 2017, it would be interesting to see if any other movie, including Hareem Farooq’s Parchi or Mahira Khan’s Verna, would overtake or even come close to PNJ’s explosive numbers.
