Here’s some good news for all the Taylor Swift fans, the wait is finally over and the all time favourite pop singer is back with a new track titled Look What You Made Me Do. Nearly 3 years have passed since Swift released her award winning album of the year, 1989, breaking her tradition of releasing an album every other October.
Ever since July 2016’s incident over Kanye West’s controversial song Famous, Taylor Swift limited her presence on the social media. Moreover all hell broke loose when she deleted all her Instagram posts on August 18th. She then proceeded by posting sinister and cryptic clips of a snake from August 21st-23rd. Fans presumed that this was signaling the release of new music.
Their theory was proved correct when Swift finally revealed that her new album, Reputation, would be released on the 10th of November. Along with this, she also informed the world that her new single is releasing on the 25th of August.
Look What You Made Me Do has been described by Apple Music as “A sinister track fueled by thundering bass and a thirst for revenge”.
The song, which interpolates Right Said Fred’s 1991 hit I’m Too Sexy, is much darker and edgier than the 27 year old’s former work. The ominous lyrics and foreboding tone gives us the impression that Taylor is out for blood.
Towards the end of the track, she uses a phone call effect and says:
“The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now”.
“Why? Cause she’s dead.”
These lyrics have wreaked havoc among her fans. The lines have also given people a good reason to believe that this is her way of getting back at Kanye West and Kim Kardashian for filming the infamous phone call last year.
After listening to Look What You Made Me Do, fans are even more impatient for the release of Reputation. November 10th, we’ll be waiting.
