After a long debate and controversy, music director and singer Sahir Ali Bagga finally broke silence over his statement on legendary Indian composer and music maestro A.R. Rehman
Earlier this week, Bagga while giving an interview to Icon said that the internationally known music producer A.R. Rehman’s rating was similar to his ranking.
In the interview, the renowned composer shared his views upon being known as Pakistan’s A.R. Rehman.
I think A.R. Rehman is very good, but his rating is the same as mine.
He further said that his song has more views on YouTube.
None of his songs have gotten 500 million hits. My song with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, ‘Zaroori Tha’ has crossed 500 million views.
After facing backlash, the musician recorded a video message in which he clarified his stance and dismissed giving such a statement.
He said that he wants to clarify that his words were quoted out of context.
There’s a statement under my name being circulated widely these days that says ‘A.R. Rehman is good but his rating is the same as mine’; I would like to clarify that this is not my statement. Yes, I have given the interview to the magazine, but my words have been quoted out-of-context.
He further added A. R. Rehman is his maestro and he has great respect for him.
I respect A.R. Rehman sahib a lot; he is one of the people I look up to. He is definitely an ustad [maestro] and a lot of people have learned music from him including me. He is my senior and I love him a lot.
