Sanam Saeed & Aamina Sheikh Discuss the Real Message Behind Cake The Film

Our cravings can finally be satisfied as Cake, the most anticipated movie of this season, had its premiere yesterday and cinemas across the country are now filled with its flavor!

The on-screen sister duo of Sanam Saeed and Aamina Sheikh talked to BBC Asian Network about the real message behind Cake. They discussed that how this movie is going to break many stereotypes and will challenge gender roles.

Cake revolves around the story of two sisters, Sanam Saeed as Zara and Aamina Sheikh as Zareen, who are not that friendly with each other. Tension arises between the two when Zara returns from abroad and the two get to spend some time together.

Aamina and Sanam talked about how the word “feminist” is often misunderstood in our society and being a feminist is not limited to only a few things that empower women but also in equal rights between men and women, especially when it comes to work-related areas.

The duo discussed how these two independent women are empowered in their own way. Zareen is a strong, simple girl who doesn’t only takes care of the households and her parents but also smokes secretly and goes out on the fields to command the workers.

On the other hand, Zara lives abroad and spends life on her own terms. The sister duo also shared how these two independent women will take charge of their lives in their own way while considering the boundaries set around them.

Aamina also mentioned the need to empower men in this age, to make them aware of their responsibilities and stances. Though the two support the idea of feminism but they are not fine with the whole “hate all the men” thing.

So many layers of different flavors make Cake a must-watch movie; let’s see if this movie will be able to satisfy the cravings of the audience!
