No Time to Sleep: Sarmad Khoosat Plays The Role Of A Prisoner On Death Row


Sarmad Khoosat is all set to embark on yet another exciting project with a play ‘No Time to Sleep’, that will portray the final hours of a prisoner on death row!

The 24-hour-long play can be watched on which went live on Tuesday night which can be watched.

The acclaimed actor/director plays the role of Prisoner Z, who has spent 17 years in jail on a death sentence and is now scheduled to be executed. No Time to Sleep depicts the inexplicable last moments in a prisoner’s life prior to execution and is a joint venture of the Justice Project Pakistan in collaboration with Olomopolo Media and Highlight Arts.

Inspired by JPP’s first client, Zulifqar, who was executed after spending 17 years in jail, No Time to Sleep aims to portray the last moments of emotions prisoners go through, based accounts of prison staff and family members.

Having spent a major part of his life in jail, Zulfiqar didn’t only teach hundreds of prisoners but also secured 33 diplomas himself during imprisonment.

Ryan van Winkle, an American poet and artist, has given the concept of this play which will be directed by Kanwal Khoosat.

With his mercy petition getting rejected, the terrifying finals hours of Prisoner Z will begin on 26 September 2018 at 12:00 P.M. (PST). The rolling coverage of the execution warrant and media release will be depicted via a social media prologue.

A replica of a death cell is designed for this play with an actual toilet setup since it will go on for a day. No Time to Sleep will be streamed live worldwide on October 10th at 12:00 a.m. sharp!
