PSL 2017 is done and dusted, but it seems the love for Pakistani franchise Peshawar Zalmi has reached across the border! King Khan of B-Town has extended an offer to Javed Afridi for a three-match series between their cricket franchises, according to local news.
Update: According to India Today, SRK has not proposed such an idea and is unaware of any series. KKR team management denied any such development.
“There is absolutely no truth in it. We categorically deny this.”
KKR CEO Venky Mysore told India Today in an exclusive chat.
“I just had a word with Shah Rukh and he told me that he has been so busy shooting these days that he didn’t even know that any such league was happening in Pakistan or Dubai let alone calling any franchise owner and congratulating him on winning the tournament.”
Shah Rukh Khan contacted Javed Afridi and congratulated him on winning the second edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL). SRK owns the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders, whereas Afridi owns Peshawar Zalmi.
Shah Rukh Khan has offered for the two teams to play the series at a neutral venue which would either be London or Dubai.
According to the report, Afridi said Shah Rukh Khan had called him asking to convince the Pakistani government of the series while he would convince the Indian government.
Afridi added that following the Zalmi’s victory, he had received congratulatory messages from Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Sanjay Kapoor, Gulshan Grover and Shah Rukh Khan. Javed Afridi added that Afghan President Ghani had invited the Zalmi to visit Kabul.
Zalmi also received love from Bollywood bombshell Nargis Fakhri during the PSL:
