Bollywood singing sensation Sonu Nigam disguised as an old beggar (Roadside Ustaad), was spotted singing on the streets of Mumbai. It was a part of a social experiment attempting to capture the cheerful and positive effect of music on people’s everyday life.
The singer gave a live performance out in the busy streets of Juhu, where many stood, praised and applauded, but none recognised him.
Conducted by Culture Machine’s digital channel, Being Indian captured the reaction of Mumbaikars as they stopped by to listen in the social experiment titled, ‘The Roadside Ustaad’,

The experiment captured the reaction of Mumbaikars as they stopped by to listen to the melodious voice of the old man, without realising it was non-other than the phenomenal Sonu Nigam himself.
Sonu sang his famous Kal Ho Na Ho title track along with other ghazals which caught the attention of many people passing by.
“It was a humbling experience. One man gave me Rs12 after listening to my song. I have the rupee note framed now. I would like to meet him again and give back something,” said Sonu Nigam
