Late Bollywood actress, Sridevi, who passed away earlier this year was recently honored with an award for her performance in her last movie ‘Mom,’ at the 65th National Film Awards, one of the most prominent award ceremonies in India!
Sridevi played the role of a mother of a rape victim, (portrayed by Pakistani actress Sajal Aly) who takes revenge from those involved in the crime. It was indeed an honour for her fans and followers who are still shocked by her sudden demise in February.
The veteran actress passed away from accidental drowning in a bathtub in Dubai, where she was attending a family wedding with her husband, Boney Kapoor and her daughter.
Mom was Sridevi’s 3rd film in a row after her recent comeback in Bollywood with the super hit movie English Vinglish and also a Tamil film, Puli.
‘Mom’ is Sajal Aly’s debut movie in Bollywood in which she played the role of Sridevi’s stepdaughter, who gets raped and goes through an emotional trauma while her stepmom decides to take revenge after the justice system failed her family!
Adnan Siddiqui also starred in this Bollywood thriller and played the role of Sridevi’s husband. Sridevi, Sajal Aly and Adnan Siddiqui were truly appreciated for their performances in India and in Pakistan as well!
Not only Sridevi, the National Film Awards also acknowledged another legendary Bollywood actor, Vinod Khanna, posthumously!
Vinod Khanna was honored with the Dada Saheb Phalke Award, which is India’s highest film honor, for his lifetime achievements in Bollywood at the National Film Awards on Friday!
