The pop star has just dropped the video for her 2017 track “Delicate”. While the song lyrics seem to refer to a new relationship, the video focuses on the drawbacks of celebrity.
We see a lonely Swift mechanically dealing with the trappings of fame as she arrives at an event surrounded by her usual security people, and talks to journalists and fans. But when a stranger gives her a magic piece of paper the pop star finds she’s suddenly invisible to everyone around her.
Away from scrutiny, Swift lets loose, tearing off part of her long fringed dress, clowning around, making silly faces in the mirror, climbing a hotel concierge’s desk, and dancing her way through the swish hotel.
Then we see her dancing barefoot in an underground metro station, on the rainy street, and finally entering a dive bar, where she becomes visible again.
The video for “Delicate” was directed by Joseph Kahn who has previously helmed Swift’s “Bad Blood”, “Look What You Made Me Do”, “Blank Space” and others.
From her 2017 album “Reputation,” Delicate is the fourth track to get a video, following “Look What You Made Me Do”, “…Ready For It?” and “End Game”.
