Two actors from the “Harry Potter” saga are working together on a new sci-fi series for YouTube Red.
Hogwarts alumini Tom Felton and Natalia Tena are leading the cast of YouTube Red’s “Origin.”
With the first two of ten episodes directed by Paul W.S. Anderson of “Event Horizon,” “Alien vs. Predator” and four “Resident Evil” movies, “Origin” follows a group of strangers stuck on an alien planet, facing up to the reality that one of them is not who they seem.
In the “Harry Potter” franchise, Felton played the untrustworthy Draco Malfoy and Natalia Tena played Nymphadora Tonks, Draco’s older cousin and the Pottermore equivalent of a special agent.
After playing Tonks in four “Harry Potter” films — from “Order of the Phoenix” through to the second “Deathly Hallows” movie — Tena became “Game of Thrones” Osha in seasons 1, 2 and 6, collected a Gaudi Award and a Goya nod for her performance in Spanish drama “10.000 Km,” and popped up in a season 2 episode of “Black Mirror” opposite Jon Hamm, Rafe Spall and Oona Chaplin.
Among Felton’s post-Potter projects have been “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” Gugu Mbatha-Raw drama “Belle,” the Daisy Ridley-starring Shakesperian reimagining “Ophelia,” and DC superhero show “The Flash.”
“Origin” is being filmed on location in South Africa with a 2018 debut coming via online subscription service YouTube Red.
