Under fire for her attitude during Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s film, Urwa Hocane has finally broken silence on the writer/director’s allegations.
Maintaining the frank and fierce attitude, the ‘Rangraza’ actress said Khalil sahab is a respectable person for her. In an interview with various websites, she said:
Khalil sa’ab always calls me beta and he’s like a father figure to me. He’s older than me and I have nothing but respect for him.
She was then was asked for her opinion on calling her “scary”. She replied that he was just upset from her as she couldn’t execute the role she was offered in his upcoming movie Kaaf Kangana.
He’s just upset that I couldn’t do the role. It was a role that first Sohai was supposed to do and then it was offered to me. I agreed but when we sat down and started discussing the character, I realized that there was no compatibility.
She further clarified that the role was just not suitable for her!
Khalil sa’ab is essentially a writer and the character he had perceived as a director was not suitable for me. I’ve never worked with him as a director; he did an amazing script for Punjab Nahi Jaungi but as a director, his vision for the character did not suit me.
She further added she would not take Khalil ur Rehman’s comments personally!
I know he’s angry, but I won’t take it personally. He’s genuinely upset and I understand that. It’s okay if he’s angry with me.
For those who don’t know, Urwa Hocane recently faced criticism from ace writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and it created an uproar around the country.
During an interview to EPK, the Pyarey Afzal writer disclosed that Urwa Hocane was offered the second lead in his upcoming film Kaaf Kangana but after the exit of his main heroine Sohai Ali Abro, she was promoted to do the lead with Sami Khan. He further revealed that he has good relationships with Urwa’s husband Farhan Saeed and that’s why he decided to promote her than go for another actress.
He said:
Urwa was begging me for the film. her husband Farhan Saeed is an amazing person and I love HIM so i decided to offer her the role.
I still remember when she visited me before the role was given to her. She was cast for the second lead. She wept like anything to be the part of this movie and I developed sympathy for her.
However, he added that after casting Urwa, he had the worst ever experience of his life. He claimed that the temperament to handle the actress was beyond him and that’s why after 12 days, he decided to let her go.
it turned out to be the worst ever experience of my life. I wish her luck for her future but I am not sure I would ever be able to work with her again.

Khalil ur Rehman Qamar has been behind some of the biggest TV dramas including Boota From Toba Tek Singh, Landa Bazaar, Pyaray Afzal, Sadqay Tumharay to name a few. He is currently working on his upcoming movie Kaaf Kangana where he has now cast Eshal Fayyaz and Ayesha Omer in place of Sohai Ali Abro and Urwa Hocane.
